  Aims: The aims of this course are: to provide a comprehensive overview of the current stage of noninvasive ventilation (NIV) in acute and chronic settings; to detail the evidence base for NIPPV in the ICU, respiratory intermediate care unit, respiratory ward and home care; to provide hands-on experience in setting up a variety of ventilators for acute and chronic use; to focus on, and improve, practical problem-solving skills; to provide an overview of all sleep-related breathing disorders.
  Course goals: At the end of the course, participants will have a detailed knowledge of: Setting up an NIV programme; Choosing ventilators and interfaces; Selecting appropriate patients and initating NIV’ Weaning using NIV; NIV during endoscopic procedures; Home NIV in COPD; Current guidelines; Areas of controversy.
